Hooked Cabarete works together a diving centre in Sosua; the best place to go for diving in the surrounding. With over 10 years of experience, good equipment and instructors, you know for sure you will be diving with of one of the best, but also least expensive, diving schools. The courses are done in Dutch, English or German and with certification afterwards. Next to the diving part, the centre also does snorkelling trips by boat. Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Cabarete is a great place for stand up paddle boarding. Encuentro is the obvious choice for surfing waves but there are several outer reefs that line the entire Cabarete Bay and Kitebeach which are superb for SUP. A long paddle for normal surfers means these waves are always empty and wide channels allow easy paddling to the peak. Of course, inside these reefs is plenty of calm water for those who just want to paddle around!
Windsurfing put Cabarete on the map in the 80′s. Cabarete has thrived on windsurfing visitors for a long time and now(still) has several top notch windsurfing centers and schools. Cabarete Bay is a prime location for learning and the outer reefs are perfect for those who like a challenge.
Wakeboarding is available on the Yasica River. Just a few miles out of town, Carib Wake will pick you up with the boat and drive you down for some on water action. Popular when the wind is light, wakeboarding is great cross training for kiteboarding and board control.
Get out of the heat and into the heart of the country. Jump on bikes for an exhilarating ride right through the heart of the Septentrional Mountain Range. Off road sections, including some single track are available for those seeking a challenge.
Kayak your way through rapids and crystal clear pools of the River Yasica under a canopy of lush tropical vegetation. Jump in the water, swim with the fish, listen to the birds and enjoy the incredibly beautiful countryside. Kayak tours are very easy going and family friendly.
Canyoning differs to cascading in that it involves rappelling and is therefore slightly more technical and a little slower paced. Highlights of on of the best trips, the Magic Mushroom, include 2 rappels of up to 160 feet and exhilarating jumps of up to 25 feet into deep pools of crystal clear water.
Horse Back Riding
The best way to take in the sun and views of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean on the North Coast. Beach rides include guides and roundtrip transportation from Cabarete. This is not just a nose to tail plod along the beach, these horses really love a good gallop!
Sosua Bay and the surrounding reef areas offer some fantastic snorkeling. The water here is sheltered, calm and clear giving you the opportunity to get right up close to the reef and view the abundant aquatic life.
Newly installed and ACCT certified, this is a 4,400 ft zip line park where you can enjoy the cool breezes and spectacular ocean and mountain views. Two training cables are followed by some fast lines and there is also a 55′ vertical fan descender into a newly discovered cave.
The North Coast of the Dominican Republic is world renowned for great Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna and Marlin fishing. Leaving from beautiful Sosua Beach you can begin fishing 500 yards out, because the ocean floor drops to more than 800 ft.
Cabarete and the Dominican Republic offer you several options for one-day hikes in National Parks and Protected Areas and the chance to trek to Pico Duarte (3,087 m), the highest mountain in the Caribbean. Be ready for a real adventure!
